Whenever I travel, I realize how little I have seen of the world. For a long time I had no need for it either. When I was a kid we used to vacation on the same beach every year. I didn't see any mountains, didn't get to know different cultures and volcanoes were just as real to me as dinosaurs and pirates.  And that was totally fine. My parents worked their ass off and were just happy to lie on the beach for 2 weeks a year and do nothing.  
It was only when I started earning my own money and was able to decide where the journey was going that a new world opened up for me. 
Every journey I make now shows me something new and stimulates my thoughts. How did this landscape emerge? What kind of rock is this Mountain? How did people live here in the past and what kind of problems must there have been back then?

I can't wait to explore more places of our beautiful world.

Summer on my Mind

Those who know me know that I feel most comfortable on cold mountains and in foggy forests. Due to COVID travel restrictions we had to cancel our trip to the US in 2021. A replacement was needed quickly. It was October, we had four weeks to travel and it wasn't the perfect season to go to many of the other European destinations on our list.
I knew there were many interesting places on the Canary Islands so we booked the trip. What can I say? Even in October it was damn hot there. Hiking was out of the question and we had to spend time on the beaches until the sun was lower and it got a little cooler. I hated it. It felt like a waste of time. We were so happy to be back in Germany, where we could still get a glimpse of autumn.
Looking back, however, it was one of the most beautiful trips. It was a trip that only got really nice after the trip. Like a memory covered in sugar icing.
